How to get from Prague to Hallstatt

Getting from Prague to Hallstatt can be somewhat of a challenge, although certainly well worth the journey. There is no direct route from Prague to Hallstatt, but for travelers on a budget the cheapest way to travel from Prague to Hallstatt is by bus or train. For time and convenience, the best way to travel from Prague to Hallstatt is by car. 

Prague to Hallstatt by train

To travel from Prague to Hallstatt by train, you’ll need to get to the Praha hl.n. station and purchase a Standardpreis ticket to Hallstatt Bahnhof. You can  buy a Sparschiene ticket for as little as 35 EUR if you book in advance, or, you can purchase a full-flex Standardpreis ticket for 75 EUR. These tickets can’t sell out and are good for any train that day,  a good option if you're not sure about your itinerary. Since there’s no direct train route from Prague to Hallstatt, you will have to transfer at least once on this 380 km journey. The earliest train is at 6:50 AM, and the last train is at 11:31 PM with trains departing every hour. If you’re able to catch a train with only one stop, the trip will take you as little as 7 hours. However, most options require at least 2 or 3 stops, making the transfer by train about 8 hours on average.Trains have bathrooms on board, and usually offer a dining car.[table id=249 /]

Prague to Hallstatt by bus

There’s no direct bus from Prague to Hallstatt, but for 60 EUR you can book a seat in a Bean Shuttle that will take you from Prague to Hallstatt via Cesky Krumlov. The Bean shuttle leaves from both the prague city center and the prague airport at 9:00 AM, 1 PM and 4:30 PM daily and will drop you off at  the Lahn Seestrasse bus stop in Hallstatt. Since there’s only three departures per day, you definitely want to book your seat in advance from the Bean Shuttle’s website. The trip takes about 6 hours in total for the 380 km ride. In terms of shuttle transfers, this is the most direct option to get from Prague to Hallstatt by bus, as all other options would require a change of service and a combination of train and bus. [table id=250 /]

Prague to Hallstatt by Private Car Transfer
